Litfuse Publicity Group and Abingdon Press sent me a copy of Cynthia Ruchti’s new book As Waters Gone By in exchange for an honest review.
As a military spouse long lonely days are not foreign. That familiar ache of wondering where he is, what he is doing, and who he will be when he returns connected me immediately to Emmalyn Ross. Every character in this book was rich and intriguing. No one fell flat. I fell in love immediately with the strong military wife, Cora, who held down the homefront with strength, vulnerability, and grace.
Emmalyn struggles through who she was, is and is becoming as she mends her broken life and her dissipated cottage. Good friends, good food, and hard soul searching prepare her for the return of her husband good or bad. This is one of those books you just don’t want to end. It left me wanting to pack my bags, grab a ferry, and head out to Madeline Island. But like all good stories it came to an end, no worries I had Cynthia Ruchti’s book They Almost Always Come Home sitting close at hand waiting for me to pick it up and dive in. So now I’m lost in the pages of a missing husband and a broken woman trying to find her way and I’m in book heaven.
