The Mystery of Replenish

A few weeks ago a book arrived in my mailbox. It was shipped straight from Amazon. I immediately started asking friends if they had sent it. The further I got into the book the more confused I became.

Whoever sent me this book had to know intimate details of my life. How else could a book of any kind be so on target? It was either written just for me…. or here’s a thought

I am not alone

Normally, about here, I would write “this book was sent to me by_______ for an honest review.” But since my sleuthing did not turn up any results, and everyone I asked denied sending it, I can simply say here is my honest review.

Lance Witt and I at some point must have sat down over multiple cups of coffee at which time he decided to share with the world my innermost struggles. I’ve never met the man, but I’ve also never read a book that was so on target with my personal struggles.

With that said, it was not a book of condemnation or judgement. It was a conversation with a friend who said, “I see your pain and your struggles and I want you to know there is a better way.” It was a hug, a hand on my shoulder, and a nudge to get things in perspective.

The backstage of ministry is exhausting and lonely. But it doesn’t have to be! Church isn’t about running a business, it is about every member including the leaders growing closer to Christ, to one another, and about reaching people where they hurt.

I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who serves others in some fashion. It will help you see the value you in unplugging, relaxing, ministering to your own soul, developing strong friendships, and avoid burnout. No matter where you are along the journey in leading others this book is a must read.
