My news feed is full of paranoia, doomsday, and bad news. So I thought I’d leave you with something inspiring.
In the midst of struggle, remember that beauty arises. It is through pain that we are transformed into stronger more caring people.
What some of us may consider a disadvantage is nothing more then diversity and strength. We need to start seeing the world different. We need to see the beauty and uniqueness of each individual.
Here are just a few people who found joy in their everyday. May they inspire you as they have me.
Joni Eareckson Tada used her tragedy to inspire millions. She founded Joni and Friends in order “to accelerate Christian ministry in the disability community.” At the age of 17 Joni was in a diving accident that left her in in a quadriplegic state. Using her own story and beating the odds, she is approaching her 65 birthday. She has inspired many through her story, her art, and her ministry.
Malala Yousafzai anonymously blogged about her life as a young girl going to school under threat from the Taliban. In 2012, on her way to school in Pakistan, she was shot. She has used her story as a platform and became a co-recpient of the Nobel Peace Prize earlier this month. She is known for her struggle against suppression and for the right of all children to education.
Sean Forbes DEAF AND LOUD His music speaks for itself.
Geoffrey Davis took his story of depression, PTSD, prescription drug and alcohol abuse and has used it as a platform to reach out to others. As the co-founder of Living Thru Crisis it is his goal not only to provide insight into the life of someone dealing with PTSD, depression and suicide ideation but to share the impact it has on the family and the power that comes from working together to move through the crisis.
Tacey Raye lost both eyes to Retinoblastoma (the same disease that impacted our daughter). But it did not hold her back. She learned to ride horses and was crowned “Miss Tough Enough” Rodeo Queen. Now she is battling a second cancer with grace and tenacity. She is inspiration of strength, courage and faith to our family. Though we’ve never met we’ve watched her journey from afar and find strength in her story.
We do have to remember that there is still good in the world and good people. Was so happy to hear that Malala Yousafzai got the nobel peace prize. What an inspiration she is to us all.
