1.) How did you come up with your blog name?

I wanted to find something that incorporated my goal on life. I am not always the most joyful person though I strive to be. Since I blog about so many different things (ministry, parenting, childhood cancer, book reviews, life as a military spouse, etc…) the one thing that incorporates all of those is my journey towards joy.

2.) What’s your favorite food to cook?

I am not big on cooking. My husband is amazing at it, I lucked out big time on that! My favorite is when he smokes ribs or his makes his margarita chicken.

3.) If you could be any animal, which animal would it be and why?

I always have a hard time answering this question. I have no idea. I’m pretty content being a human. Of course my cats have a pretty awesome lazy life. So maybe a cat.

4.) What is something that really makes you laugh?

My good friend Erica. She sees the world in special hues and has a way of communicating that like no one else I’ve ever met.

5.) What is your biggest pet peeve?

When people make broad generalizations. I get frustrated when people say thinks like “but the Bible is so clear.” Nope, it’s a pretty complicated book. I also don’t like when people put others in categories or refuse to even try to see something from another’s perspective.

6.) What is one item you just could NOT live without?

I’m not overly attached to anything but I’m pretty sure food and water should make the list and books, definitely books.

7.) If you could spend the day with one celebrity, who would it be?

Robin Williams is the first name that comes to my mind. I loved his humor and his smile. I wish he was still around.

8.) What are you driving?

A car that is falling apart lol. Its sunroof is currently duct-taped shut because it refuses to stay closed. My dream car is a Honda Odyssey.

9.) If you could change your first name, what would you change it to and why?

I wouldn’t change it, I love my first name! It’s become very much part of my calling in life. (Is There Power in a Name)

10.) If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

Kindness. No more war, lots of love, and the opportunity for everyone to experience Christ’s love. We need to be a people who are unoffendable so that we can truly hear the heart of others, share our beliefs with one another, and begin moving forward as a society.

11.) What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given?

“Don’t worry about tomorrow. What you have today is enough.” This advice was given to me from a dear friend right after our daughter was diagnosed with cancer and I was in meltdown mode. And she was right. One day at a time is the only way to get through any difficulty. (Our St. Jude Story, How It Began)
