Proverbs 27:14 Whoever blesses his neighbor with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, will be counted as cursing. (ESV)
I love the quiet of the morning. The back porch has become my place of solace. A book, a cup of coffee and my thoughts welcome in the day.
After a few quiet moments the kids, one by one begin to join me with cereal bowls and eager questions to start the day. I love this new found stillness for our family. Some days we sit for over an hour cuddling and talking as the rest of the world busily starts.
We reenter the house and start our school day on our own terms.
It hasn’t always been like this. I remember mornings of yelling and lost shoes, of scurrying out the door and forgetting lunches. Yes, we still occasionally have those days. But I’m enjoying the stillness more.
There is joy in the morning in this season of rest.
I am learning to be still.
