God gives and He takes away. There are times when the pain comes and we ask why, and there are times when we just cry out that God is good and trust that He has this when we are to weak.
Helo Matzelle has written a beautifully raw memoir of her diagnoses of a rare brain tumor, her fear and faith that followed, treatment and the long road to recovery. While she had to relearn to control her body she also learned to hold on tight to her faith. When her faith failed her, in the moments she cried out why, she grasped on to the strength and faith of her spouse.
This book speaks to the healing power of Christ and the triumphal faith of the broken. It speaks to the love of family and the compassion and care that follow a personal tragedy. It is in our pain we draw closer to God and one another. It is in our pain that we find a peace that passes all understanding. It is in our broken hallelujahs that worship becomes intimate and raw. Helo found her hope in Christ. Her brokenness gives testimony to God’s goodness. May you rest in God’s peace, find comfort in Helo’s words, and replace your pain with peace.

the term broken hallelujah means so much to me right now. As I grieve for a friend, & as I sit here in anger & frustration that my husband isn’t home, again. That I’ve chosen to take on a task that seems to be too much. I continue to thank Him, & Praise Him. I am a broken hallelujah. I’d love to read this book.
Andrea my heart is broken for our friend. When she was singing yesterday all I could think of was broken hallelujahs.
