Book Review: Are you a Modern Military Spouse?

Dear Modern Military Spouse,

There are a lot of military life help books out there but none quite like this one. This is real, practical advice that doesn’t ask you to live in a 1950s world with tea parties and cute dresses. It dives into today’s challenges of careers, education, friendships, finding our own way, all while loving our soldier and being with the one we chose to do this life with.

If you find yourself in a place where the military feels as if it is getting in the way of your dreams and aspirations, take heart, the advice in this book will help you find your way.

The Modern Military Spouse is real about what we give up, the emotional struggles that we shouldn’t hide, and honest about the struggles this life brings to career, education, and relationships. I’ve added it to my Deployment Toolbox as an essential resource.

There are still quite a few things I have yet to experience in our short 8 years in. We’ve been in one place. A PCS or OCONUS PCS is slightly terrifying to me. I’ve heard so many horror stories. Every year we are told we are moving and every year we don’t so I’ve become both comfortable and anxious to move on. The information shared within the book and the detailed lists in the back is information I am beyond grateful for.

Overall I found The Modern Military Spouse to be an extremely uplifting and helpful resource, one I will continue to highly recommend to every military spouse I meet. Wherever you find yourself in this military journey there is always more to learn and more ways to grow.
