Christmas Romance: Where Treetops Glisten Book Review and Giveaway
I fell in love with this book by the time I read the first page, for no other reason then Turner is my maiden name. Where Treetops Glisten is all about a beautiful family, the Turners, whose love for each other and God help them overcome the struggles in life. It was so much fun reading this Christmas Romance while thinking of my own Grandparents and how they met during the war.

I have this terrible habit during deployments. When couples fight in front of me, in my office or in their homes, I take the husband’s side. I sympathize and defend them because I miss mine so much. I come to their defense because I can’t help but think of all the ways I would spoil my husband if he were home. And then he comes home, the honeymoon ends, and I’m sympathizing with the wives.

How to build a family legacy
I grew up with Dr. James Dobson. He advised my parents and their friends through the radio, books, and tape cassettes. When I was 13, my mom took me on a mini road-trip. We popped “Preparing for Adolescence” into the cassette player and broke only for dinner and miniature golf. I learned the what-tos of what to expect in the coming years on Florida’s US27.

Banned Books Week
It’s no secret I love books. So, in honor of banned books week I’m pulling out my favorite, The Awakening by Kate Chopin, dusting it off and sitting down with a big cup of coffee. It is the one book in my collection I have read over a dozen times. Come to think of it, there probably isn’t any dust on it. I was surprised to find that it was number 50 of the Banned & Challenged Classics.
I do believe I just found my next reading list.
I’m not one who often enjoys rereading a book but some of my favorites are on the list: Sophie’s Choice, The Catcher in the Rye, and The Lord of the Rings. Perhaps it’s time to revisit a few old friends.

John and I met in a kitchen. He was a cook at the Olive Garden and I was there for my first day as a hostess. One of my first memories of his mom is standing in her kitchen, with John and her sister, discussing spices and cooking classes. John was raised by foodies and slowly sucked me in.
