My little scientist and I were looking for some fun projects to end the summer with so I thought I would share what we found here. We’ve had a lot of fun this summer reviewing the Science in a Box and participating in Elements of Trust (a science inspired Vacation Bible School).
Here is my science project roundup for elementary kids.
- Periodic Table Battleship found at Teach Beside Me. This just looks like a fun way to memorize the periodic table. Something I never actually managed to accomplish in school. Maybe it’s time now!
- Periodic Table of Elements Coloring Book - This looks like a great resource to add to the Battleship game.
- 16 exciting experiments - A few of these we used at Elements of Trust VBS and they were a big hit: dancing raisins, and making slime (though ours was not edible). I’m personally intrigued by the dancing oobleck.
- Glaciers - I love this one. It’s an entire lesson plan and recommended books in addition to the experiment on teaching your kids about glaciers.
- Volcanoes - This is a fun review of a volcano kit that the author tied into a study on Pompeii
- Groovy Lab in a Box - Of all the fun kids books and activities I’ve reviewed this one has to be my favorite. We really enjoyed Grooby Lab in a box’s Moon Walk.
Do you have a great science project for kids? Share it in the comments below so I can check it out and maybe add it to this list! We are always looking for new projects to try out.

This just makes me want to be a kid again. 😛
