Last week I had the opportunity to go to San Antonio, TX for the USAA DigitalMilEx and meet some extraordinary men and women serving our military community. Originally this post was going to be about all the things I learned and the people I met. However I’m still processing the new information and perusuing my notes and realized I wasn’t quite ready. Besides this much awesomeness in one post is enough. I will have lessons I learned ready for you next Tuesday.
Here are just a few of the people I met last week. They are each doing wonderful things in the military community for active duty, military spouses, and veterans. I am looking forward to learning from each of them and having a few of them guest blog here in the future.
- Judy Davis, The Direction Diva. If you’ve been following this blog for any amount of time (say, since last week when I wrote about mentors) you know that I am a big fan of Judy’s. She has been a close friend and personal mentor since our family first started our military journey. My going to USAADigiMil was highly influenced by the fact that she called and told me to go, not to mention it was an opportunity to hear her speak. If you aren’t following her yet, shame on you
- Tara Crooks with ArmyWifeNetwork.com They offer some great resources for the military spouse. I would love to see them come back to El Paso for more Field Exercises.
- Jo, My Gosh! Don’t just check out her blog. Jo is an excellent writer and has guest posted and contributed in numerous places. She is just as amazing in person.
- Jacey Eckhart, an event coach and author, who has a question for all of you. “What is the best time of day or week to have an event for spouses and why? Also, what makes an event worth attending?” Click here to answer
- Karina at www.tutorsbybase.com. I’m looking forward to her guest blogging here soon.
- Rick Yost VeteransList.Us Come back this Friday to read my review on his children’s book, Sheepdog.
- Ellie Kay and Bethany Grace at elliekay.com where they offer tips on military financing and life.
- Joe Crane, founder of VeteranOnTheMove.com. I love his post Are you waiting to “get in the fight?” but what he is really good at is his podcasts. I found his how to create an LLC very helpful. He also has some great interviews, like this one with Daddy’s Deployed CEO and Marine Wife Bridget Platt Found Opportunity in her Husband’s Deployments
- Ron Fugle from Fire & Adjust helping fellow veterans make the transition to the civilian world.
- Derek Distenfield at NextGenJustice.com.
- Lifestyle By Lori
- Doug Nordman from The Military Guide has already written about some of what he learned last week as well. Check it out: Top Three New USAA Products and Services
- Briana Hartzell who blogs for USAA Communities and at Being Briana
- Cynthia Blake, a licensed professional counselor here in El Paso. It was so fun to meet her at the airport for the first time in person and travel together. You can follow her on her Facebook page.
This event was hosted by USAA. In addition to these wonderful people, I learned a great deal about USAA and can’t wait to share that with you as well.
