Ever feel like you are speaking entirely different languages and no matter what you say or do “I love you” isn’t being heard. Well, good news. There’s a solution and it’s called LoveNudge.
Here’s the problem:
You’ve been married for too long. You’ve both tried to connect and say I love you in your own awkward way but life has simply taken you in different directions.
I get it.
Sure you say. “Mrs I wrote a book about how to be an awesome wife and be joyful in the yuck gets it.” I hear the sarcasm in your voice.
And yep, I deserved that.
Here’s the truth:
My marriage isn’t perfect. Far from it. In fact a few months ago I was complaining to a friend (because you know complaining to a friend about a spouse is always good marriage advice, again NOT PERFECT).
Her response to me, “Have you read Finding Joy? You know that book you wrote. Maybe take some of your own advice.”
Ouch!
I needed that.
We’ve entered a new stage in our life. See my soldier retired from active duty, not because he wanted to but because his body had said ENOUGH!
Now we are exploring this marriage thing together. After ten years of going off in our own direction. Me, focused on the kids, St. Jude visits, and Ft. Bliss. Him, 100% Army. We are finding a new normal together.
And it is hard.
I thought reintegration after
We were going in different directions, spending months apart, and suddenly we’re together EVERY SINGLE DAY.
This is where I’m supposed to say YAY! I LOVE IT!
The truth is, it is an adjustment. I love having him around and not worrying about him in the same way I once did. I can walk in the other room and see with my own eyes he is breathing.
He is there for dinner and for breakfast and for lunch and for… Well, you get it.
How I used to say I love you
Saying I love you used to be in the form
- a well-timed letter,
- a themed care package,
- a carefully planned homecoming,
- putting duty first
There was
How do I say I love you now?
Somebody help!
If you’ve spent more then 5 minutes at any given military marriage retreat then chances are high you’ve heard of the 5 Love Languages. Well, now they have an App!
An app that helps you say “I Love You”
Yes, it feels like cheating. In part because it is fun.
Somehow Gary Chapman and his tech team have figured out how to gamify marriage.
Here’s the deal:
You download the FREE app and take a short quiz. Then invite your partner to connect with you by doing the same. Your app will update with their love language and specific actions you can take to fill their “love tank.”
But there is a catch…
…you both have to participate.
You might be wondering how to pull this off. Easy! Let
Get’s you both off the hook on grabbing something last minute and there is nothing better than investing directly into your relationship.
And if your soldier is deployed, it’s a great way to check in across the miles.
Want to know the best part?
Or I guess I should say my favorite part.
You can set goals that are:
- color-coded to your partner’s love language
- let the app know how often you want to accomplish the task, whether it’s daily or once a year
- watch animated short cartoons to help understand each love language
At the end of the day, there is something satisfying about having clicked everything you set out to do in loving on your partner.
You can even check in and ask your partner how full his or her love tank is.
It can be terrifying to look someone in the eyes and ask “did I satisfy your love needs today?” But not when all it takes is a little love nudge and a click of a button. Suddenly the fear dissipates and honesty takes over.
Seriously, they gamified marriage with the LoveNudge App!
