Yesterday wore me out. Today is day nine since John was tested and day thirteen since he started showing symptoms. He just woke up (9 a.m.) and can’t stop coughing.

So here’s what happened yesterday:

  • I shaved a cat. Wicket is always friendlier once we’ve shaved her, but still, it makes the day weird to shave a cat.
  • Tried to shampoo kids’ rooms, but the Bissel stopped working
  • E helped me try to fix it
  • Then the vacuum stopped working
  • I wrote two letters, still not sure how to write letters. You’d think being a writer I’d have this. It’s easier for me to knock out a short story or a blog than to write a personal note.
  • Played Halo with E, discovered I get motion sickness and only lasted 30 minutes
  • Colored with K and started to listen to a highly inappropriate but funny book called Bad Monkey with her. Had to turn it off. Why is it that it is so much easier to write funny with naughty stuff then everyday stuff? Writing clean but real-life humor is an area I want to focus in on more.
  • Parents dropped off a box of veggies
  • The Bautista Project dropped off bags of uniforms so I can start making blankets for the homeless
  • A splashed boiling water down her front while making ramen. Coated it in Aloe Vera and tried meditation with her. John broke his self-isolation for this emergency. He blew on her belly, so now A is going around the house saying her belly button has COVID.

John’s energy is not good. He threw up yesterday and got weaker and weaker as the day progressed. How are any of the tests accurate when they take this long to get them back? How does anyone know what steps to take next? Thankfully I’m working from home and have people who can drop stuff off at the door. I’m grateful for my small community here but so tired.
