One of the things I love the most about the summer are the options. There are so many fun camps that come along in our community. There are camps offered at UTEP, on post and a few at our church as well focusing on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). Then there are the Vacation Bible Schools on top of that. I’ve collected a list of fun resources in El Paso for the kids.

Craftsy Online Classes
Favorite Home School Resources Series
There are so many things that my children want to try out that I just don’t have the skills to teach them. I can’t always find someone to teach them, nor can I afford private lessons for each of them every time they express curiosity. So I found some fun online classes where we can all learn together. In honor of National Doughnut Day I think it may be time to head over and try out Simple to Sensational Doughnuts with Jenny McCoy.

STEM Groovy Lab in a Box and a Father’s Day Special
Favorite Home School Resources Series
Groovy boxes are a great addition to our homeschooling curriculum. Our budding scientist loves them. Groovy Lab in a Box sent us the Moon Dance Box in order to review and share it with you. I only wish I had discovered them sooner. I love this resource and more importantly so does our 3rd grader.

Join the Odyssey Adventure Club for a ‘Buck’ (Plus a Summer Challenge)
Favorite Home School Resources Series
Over the summer I will be reviewing and sharing a few of my favorite Home School Resources. The Odyssey Adventure Club isn’t just for Home Schooling but it makes a great addition to our studies and our quiet time. The big added benefit is that my 10 year old is addicted to it. He probably listens to three to five episodes a day and reads the daily devotionals. With the Adventures in Odyssey Clubhouse Magazine Taking the Plunge Summer Challenge beginning I thought this was a perfect opportunity to share this resource with you. I received a free membership in exchange for an honest review and I am so excited to pass this promotion on to you! I hope you enjoy as much as we have.
#MLK Day Homeschool Unit
Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In the past we have not done much to commemorate the day, outside of you tubing the “I Have a Dream” speech. To be honest I usually miss the special holidays, they sneak up on me. We don’t celebrate Columbus Day (ever sense the year I really paid attention to what the school history books leave out), we usually work through the bank holidays and do a pinterest search for crafts half way through the day.
This year the kids are older and unlike Christopher Columbus, Martin Luther was a man of character I want my children to immolate in their own lives.
