Since starting Hope for Tampa and the corresponding Facebook group calling for volunteers to help make masks for medical and healthcare workers four days ago, we’ve had requests for over 1000 masks. Our volunteers are working hard to meet the demand but I wanted to let you know about other places that are also doing the same.
Volunteers needed / social distancing required
If you would like to help us fulfill this need and “sew like the wind” learn more about how to volunteer. If you aren’t a sewer but want to help you can donate supplies and/or participate in our fundraiser.
Our mission is to help flatten the curve and offer a free service to medical workers who are fighting day and night to protect us and our loved ones. In addition to sewing, we are doing our part by adhering to social distancing and staying home to sew. Drop off and pickups are arranged with minimal to no human contact.
We want healthcare workers to get the facemasks they need
This isn’t a competition. We aren’t competing with others providing the same service to see who can do it the fastest and best. This need can not be met by one group alone. As we find resources in the Tampa area who are helping supply masks we will be updating the list below. If you know of another please alert us in the comments so we can add it to the list.
- Central Florida Craft Connect and The Mask Project of Tampa Bay are both making masks.
- Harbor Freight is giving away their supply of N95 Masks, Face Shields, and 5 and 7 mil Nitrile Gloves .
- Premier Image Salon is donating their supply of masks and ordering more to donate
- Lowe’s is donating $10 million in products to healthcare workers on the front line.
- Joann Stores are handing out supplies for people to make masks and then distributing them. Make sure you call first as supplies run out fast and not all sites are handing them out curbside.
