How a chicken sandwich taught me I don’t like change.

Military life, parenthood, homeschooling, and ministry all hold fast to some very important truths.

  • Expect the unexpected
  • Everything will change
  • Enjoy today because it wont be here long
  • Embrace the roller coaster ride!

Are you picking up on the theme? Change. It is inevitable. Avoid getting comfortable because that’s when it all hits the fan. So that’s my life. Everything changes.

So why did I find that chicken sandwich so upsetting?

El Paso, TX (Ft Bliss) is homeschool friendly.

I am jumping back in. Yep my house will eventually look like a solar system, art work will be strung from wall to wall, and bulletin and dry erase boards will take the place of family pictures.

Everyone has a different reason for home schooling. Personally I have a multitude of reasons but the final decision came down to: El Paso is simply a great community to home school in. There are so many opportunities for the kids that they miss out on during school hours. This year our schedule is going to be full with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cross Country Practices, Ice Skating, trips to the Museums, Spanish Class, Art Class, Co-Ops, road trips to New Mexico, Arkansas, Florida and Tennessee.

Why your church should have a homeschool ministry?

Personally, I think every church should have a home school ministry. I absolutely adore the women who attend our co-op every week.

According to U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics reported that in 2012 there were 1,508,000 home schooled students. And that number is on a 7% annual increase. There are a number of reasons reported as to why families choose to home school. It’s on the rise in both the military and civilian world.

My experience with these families has shown me that each one of them is unique in their choice and has many factors, not just one, as to why they have made this decision. I know I personally embarked on home schooling due to frequent medical trips to St Jude and desiring more family time when my husband was actually home.
