Key West Staycation Ideas

My name is Mindy and I am stationed at NAS Key West. This is a very expensive place to live so having the extra funds to go other places can be difficult. Every once in a while my family and I decide to do a staycation. Some of my favorites have to be a great visit to the Dolphin Research Center (DRC) located in Marathon. The DRC is home to dolphins, sea lions and otters that cannot survive in the wild. You get a chance to swim with them and learn how to support wildlife rescue.

Learning about the classic writer and where he lived, Also seeing the 6 toed cats.

Inmates work in the farm for community service, giving homes to animals seized for unlawful possession.

During certain times there will be some amazing concerts at the Tennessee Williams Fine art center.

Having a relaxing time with our neighbors and enjoying s’mores

Being able to see the sun rise over the Atlantic ocean and set over the gulf of mexico is awesome

Day fishing, night fishing, enjoying the best of what our waters have to offer.

Going to the reef for a fun event of snorkeling again with the Fury. Seeing the ONLY living coral reef in the united states is amazing!
