This week as I seek to find joy in my every day, I’ve been reading Unsinkable Faith by Tracie Miles. Miles is a national speaker with Proverbs 31 Ministries and a bestselling author who’s spent the last twelve years inspiring women to become who God called them to be. She’s the author of “Your Life Still Counts” and “Stressed-Less Living,” and a contributor to Proverbs 31 Ministries daily devotions.
Litfuse and David C Cook sent me this book in exchange for my humble opinion.
Life seems to come at us in waves, at least for me. There are periods of calm (the normal day to day routine), excitement (weddings, new babies, first homes, new jobs), and periods that are full of storms (cancer, lost jobs, … insert yours here). Unsinkable Faith is about “finding joy in everyday.” It isn’t about avoiding the rollercoaster of emotions that come with life. It is about how we choose to react in those situations. Are we going to become bitter when life doesn’t go our way or are we going to rest and rejoice in the life we have?
Tracie gives journaling prompts and challenges at the end of each section to help the reader evaluate where they are in the process and how to refocus their thoughts. Sometimes we miss the blessing in the pain because we are too focused on feeling cursed. Unsinkable Faith is a reminder that we can transform our thoughts to live a joyful life regardless of the storm we are in.
