Find Joy in the Everyday #JoyHopeLive {4}

Songs have filled my mind. Broken Hallelujahs intermixed with Amazing Grace and the lingering lyrics of “pain in the suffering” haunt my heart.

I have to admit that this last week I have struggled to find joy. My faith has grown, my joy found a deeper secret place, and I grieved. Last week I attended my first Maundy Thursday. I was asked to do one of the readings, and could not. My heart was to heavy to say the words.

Matthew 5:4 mournEarlier that morning I had the privilege of being in the presence of a remarkable woman. A friend whose husband recently was killed in a tragic accident. I listened to her words of faith and comfort to us. I listened to her offer forgiveness to those involved and tears streamed as she spoke of the goodness of God. I tried to sing with her as she offered her voice to God singing Blessed Be Your Name. Never will I hear those words the same again. They will always bring to mind her moment of praise, her surrender to God’s goodness, and her deep found joy in the comfort of the Lord.

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I’ll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun’s shining down on me
When the world’s ‘all as it should be’
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there’s pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I’ll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

When we cry out to God, when we mourn, He offers us peace. He comforts us and we find joy in Him.

Featured Post from Last Weeks LinkUp

Chelsea and Erika linked up with us last week from heartnatured. Erika wrote about Clothing oneself with Joy and reminded me in my grief and sadness that true joy is different then happiness. True joy comes from Christ. He created us to be joy-filled. Though I walk through the wilderness He is there.
